Why I'm Blogging: The Long Road To A Lyme Diagnosis

In 2012 my daughter, Savannah became critically ill. Three Hospitals and 20 doctors later we were finally given the diagnosis of Lyme, Ehrlichia, Bartonella and Babesia.

Savannah's Story - Welcome to the Life of an Insomniac

After just 3 days of high school my daughter became so ill she couldn't get out of bed missing all of her Freshman year. After beginning treatment for Lyme & Co she moved from "Home Hospital" schooling, to an Independent Home School program, to an accelerated High School allowing her graduate on-time while maintaining her GPA. Incredibly she graduated at the top of her class and was asked to give a speech on the day of her graduation.

My daughter received a phone call from her High School Principal, letting her know that the Superintendent of our Public schools had requested her to be the motivational speaker for the
School Assembly for our entire school district. It was an incredible opportunity for her to educate teachers about Lyme Disease and living with an invisible illness.

How My Daughter Became a Motivational Speaker

The five year anniversary of my daughters illness brought back some bad memories. One of the worst was the day she tested false-costive for HIV. Why in the world doctors would suspect HIV and not Lyme disease in a 14 year old girl is beyond me.

  1. There is a cheap herb that helped me when I had lyme. I usually don't write about it or tell people, b/c I don't want a pharmaceutical company to scoop it up and charge 100 times what it costs now, and worse to only be available by a prescription, if you can even get a dr. to admit you have lyme disease. I finally had blood tests and my lyme titers were off the scale. The dr's kept prescribing doxycyclene, but a few weeks was not enough. I kept going to different doctors to get more doxycyclene until I felt better. but what helped me a lot was cat's claw. It's an herb from the rain forrest that costs about $15 dollars now, for a bottle of 500 mg. It contains pentacyclic alkaloids. I don't know if it will help your daughter, I'm not a dr. But it was a combination of several months of doxycyclene + cat's claw (uncaria tomentosa genus/species) that did the trick. Here's one thing you may not have considered. Instead try using augmentin, b/c he spirochetes can go into a shell. doxycyclene doesnt break the shell but augmentin WILL. It's prescription though. I think it's an antibiotic + clavulanic acid (the shell breaker) that will get the lyme out way faster than anything else out there and prevent it from staying in the body and coming back, over and over again. When you treat lyme with most antibiotics you kill some, and some of the lyme creates a shell around itself. Only augmentin can break that shell b/c of the clavulanic acid in it.
